House Bill 3311 calls for the Department of Human Services to cross-reference public aid information with death records information at least once per month with the Department of Human services. Illinois State Representative Dwight Kay has passed the legislation in the Illinois Senate. The bill aims at eliminating the fraudulent collection of public aid registered to the name of an individual who has passed away. Representative Kay says the state has been having trouble with communication.

The death record information in question will be coming from the Department of Public Help residing on the Electronic Data Warehouse at the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk for his consideration.
