Deputies with the Jersey County Sheriff's Department are under a new contract. The members of the police union approved a new three year contract and the Jersey County Board unanimously approved the deal earlier this week. The pact calls for a pay hike in the final two years, but a pay freeze in the first year.
The contact is retroactive to December 31, 2010, the day after the last contract expired. The second year of the contract, which is actually 2011-2012, will provide a 2-percent hike, while the increase will be 2.5-percent in the final year of the deal.
