Republican Congressman Rodney Davis welcomed a family from Jerseyville for the State of the Union address last night. Davis hosted the surviving family of Jonny Wade, the young boy who died from brain cancer on Christmas Eve, and whose story was captured through a Facebook page with thousands of followers from around the world.
Earlier in the day, Davis challenged many of his colleagues to wear “Team Jonny” wristbands to show their support for the fight against cancer. He hosted Jonny’s parents Jon and Kimberly Wade, and his twin brother Jacky. Reacting to the address, Davis says the president has lofty goals and should work with Congress more in his final year in office:
