Ameren is trying to fight a $54.5 million electric rate cut proposed by CUB experts, as the utility's parent company posted a 50 percent increase in 2nd quarter earnings, to $211 million. This covers both the gas and electric arms of their business. It is a move that doesn't sit well with one of the better known watchdog organizations in the state.
The Citizen's Utility Board works to keep the actions of the state's utilities in the public eye. Agency spokesman Jim Chilsen says a decision is expected by the end of the month.
Chilsen says people can go to their website for a link to the CUB Action Network to tell the Illinois Commerce Commission what they think of the hike. We've provided a link below. You can also call the ICC at 1-800-524-0795 and reference case number 12-0001.
