The Godfrey Village Board has decided to move forward with federal funding for the Crosstown Road project, but not all trustees like the idea. The road is expected to connect the area near Village Hall with Clifton Terrace when finished, but Trustee Jeff Weber feels the promise of $3.3-million from the federal government for phase 1b to take it to Pierce Lane is not worth going ahead with the project.
Mayor Mike McCormick disagrees.
The portion Godfrey would be responsible for would be about $700,000, according to Weber. The measure passed by a 4-2 vote, with Weber and Eldon Williams voting no. Earlier this year, the trustees voted to rename the road the Lars Hoffman Crossing.
