As the use and sale of synthetic drugs continue to rise across the country, Macoupin County here in Illinois is set to adopt a measure that would ban the sale and possession of such drugs in the county. If adopted, Macoupin county would be one of the first within the state to adopt such legislation. The new law would prohibit the sale, delivery and possession of the drugs and also set significant penalties for offenders.
The county is also considering the adoption of a measure that would require youth offenders to participate in a counseling program in addition to any other fines and penalties they may face for violating the law. The measures will be up for adoption at the Macoupin County Board's meeting in March.
