For the first time in over two decades, Congressman Jerry Costello's name will not be on the fall ballot.  One of the longest serving members of the Illinois Delegation announced last October that he was retiring after almost 24 years in office.  The Belleville Democrat, in office since 1988, is just a couple of months away from finishing out his final term in Washington D.C..

He was elected to Congress 12 times, but says he is looking forward to writing the next chapter in his life.

Costello comments

Costello says he wants to teach about his experiences in politics and do consulting.  The 12th District race will be decided between Republican Jason Plummer, Democrat Bill Enyart, and Green Party candidate Paula Bradshaw.
