Cope Plastics of Alton is growing and is moving a portion of its operations to a new location in Godfrey. The building formerly held Saale Brothers Appliance on Humbert Road, but is being transformed for Cope Plastics to hold its recycling business and also finance offices. No opening date has been announced, but the site will host an electronics recycling drive today.
The recycling processing portion of the business involves the unused industrial plastic produced at Cope, and Project Manager Andy Ferguson says the new building will hopefully allow them to expand what they can do in-house and with other companies:
The electronics recycling drive today will be held from 10am to 2pm at the Humbert Road site, formerly the Saale Brothers location, and basically, if it plugs in you can drop it off. Ferguson says at this point, the recycling portion of the business will only involve industrial types of plastic and not the post consumer items collected weekly in Madison County. However, he says down the road there could be additional business expansion that might include a public component.
