Privacy – as it pertains to what you do on the Internet – has been a hot topic lately. Jay Kesan, a law professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, says people don’t know that when they download apps or share information online, businesses have access to the information.
“I wouldn’t say ‘worried’ but I think people should at least be aware when they click on these what exactly they are signing on to,” Kesan says.

Kesan co-authored a paper on privacy and the cloud, a system used to store information. Through research, he says, safeguards should be put in place to protect consumers.
“This is just the beginning of what promises to be an issue of continued concern for many, so many of us as we start using more and more and more services online,” Kesan said.
