Work is nearing an end on the Corridor 67 project between Godfrey and Delhi, and law enforcement wants to remind the public the work zone speed limit is still in effect. While the barricades and flashing lights are few and far between along the newly-paved highway, 45 miles per hour is still the rule, as workers and equipment are still finishing up the project.
State Police Trooper Doug Francis explains why.
Francis reminds work zone speed limits are still in effect in construction areas even if no workers are on the scene. That means a $375 ticket for those caught speeding through the work zone. And cell phone use is also banned for drivers through work zones.
