Madison County has announced that in 2016's first quarter the county has issued over 1,250 commercial and renovation construction permits. The permits issued are for projects valued at almost $42 million, an increase of over $300,000 from the first quarter of 2015.

Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan said that while the value of the projects has gone up, the number of building permits was slightly down from last year, which means that residents and businesses are taking on larger projects.

Dunstan tells the Big Z that the numbers bode well for Madison County:

Dunstan said that the increase in cost investments is a good indication of the positive, growing economic environment in Madison County.
