Traffic should be smooth sailing over the Easter Holiday weekend. Driver's shouldn't hit any major construction work. That's because the Illinois Department of Transportation is suspending its non-emergency projects, starting at 3 p.m. today. Some construction zones will still have lane closures in effect, depending on the project.
IDOT officials urge drivers to slow down and be safe on the roads this weekend. And remember, work zone speed limits are still in effect in the construction areas even though no workers are on the scene. That means a $375 ticket for those caught speeding through the work zone. And cell phone use is also banned for drivers through work zones.
