Construction is now underway on the new museum and visitor center at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. A groundbreaking was held this week near the site of the new westward facing entrance to the underground museum, which will be one of the largest parts of the renovation.
The City-Arch-River project is creating an all new green-space that will better connect the Arch grounds with downtown St. Louis through bike and walking trails from downtown, over Interstate 44 and to the Arch. The expected cost for the project is around $400-million dollars. A trip to the top of the Gateway Arch remains open through all the construction, but the museum is temporarily closed for the renovation. For more information, visit www.cityarchriver.org
