Three local school districts could be consolidated into one if voters in East Alton, Wood River and Hartford decide it is the right move. Consolidation of Wood-River Hartford School District 15, East Alton School District 13 and East Alton-Wood River High School into one Community Unit School District is headed to the ballot in April.
Madison County Regional Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Daiber tells The Big Z this issue comes back to the voters after failing by 12 votes out of nearly 2,300 cast in 2011.

Proponents of the petition say consolidation will result in the opportunity for curriculum alignment, extended extracurricular activities, the ability to combine resources to benefit all students, the ability to create a more efficient and effective district, and a unified administration that will provide uniform policies and leadership.
