Illinois, it seems, is in the same boat as the federal government: strict party lines and trying to balance the budget. U.S. Rep Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville, pictured) spoke to members of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce to discuss the federal government's situation. Most of his focus was on Congress working together to pass laws that he says will help Americans.

“What’s been missing in Washington is that ability to sit down and communicate. It just seems over the last four to six years that every major issue has been a political roll call issue,” Davis said. When it comes to the government, Davis claims there is only one budget that will balance. “(The Senate’s) budget never balances. That’s their vision for America. (The House’s) vision for America is a balanced budget,” Davis said.
