The Alton Civil Service Commission has upheld the two-day suspension of Alton Police Captain Scott Waldrup. The Commission heard the appeal of the suspension by Waldrup and his attorney, but upheld the decision last month by Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons in connection with Waldrup working overtime without permission.
The case involved work during a state-funded special seat belt and DUI enforcement patrol last August. The Commission also announced the search for a special hearing officer to gather evidence in a second case involving Waldrup in connection with missing evidence at the Alton Police Department from last fall. In that case, another police officer was suspended and charged with official misconduct. No date has been set for the next Commission meeting involving Waldrup’s case.
