Gov. Pat Quinn visited Peoria and Rock Island to announce almost $8 million in capital construction grants to private schools.  “Investments pay dividends,” Quinn said at Bradley University in Peoria, “dividends we may never see personally, but they pay dividends in educated people who make a difference and go out into the world, and really help the world and help all of us with jobs and also with creativity.”

?  $1.3 million to Augustana College, Rock Island, for renovation of Old Main and construction of a new Center for Student Life.

?  $2.9 million to Bradley University, Peoria, for health science and STEM classrooms and labs at Westlake Hall.

?  $716,000 to Eureka College, Eureka, to renovate Vennum-Binkley Science Hall.

? $1.2 million to Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, for sprinklers in some residence halls.

The money is from the Illinois Jobs Nowcapital construction program.
