The Day of the Dead is a holiday connected with the Catholic All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Tomorrow is the second annual recognition at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, and a professor at St. Louis Community College in Florissant Valley will be on hand to discuss the holiday and construct an altar, which is a traditional way to celebrate the holiday.
The Day of the Dead is a chance for family and friends to remember loved ones who have passed away, but event facilitator Ann Davidson says it's more of a celebration than a somber occasion.
Last year, the altar was constructed to a height of seven feet. The event is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. It will be held from 9am-3pm in Reid Hall, above the Underground Connection. You can come and go as you please.
