The 2012 property tax rates for more than 200 taxing districts in Madison County have been finalized. That completes the process that began in December when each taxing district filed its levy with the clerk’s office. Madison County Clerk Debbie Ming-Mendoza said the property tax rates were provided to the treasurer’s office on Thursday.
Ming-Mendoza says the tax rates are calculated by using the amount of dollars levied by the taxing agency and the value of all taxable property located within its boundaries.
Before the 2012 Property Tax bills are mailed to property owners by the treasurer’s office, a legal notice of the rates will be published in county newspapers. Any questions about those bills, including when the they will be mailed and payment dates, should be directed to the treasurer’s office.
