After 156 years of ministry to the community, Alton's Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church will cease operations in a few weeks. Church members have long been active in the community, and they intend to wrap up their time in Alton with continued support for numerous non profits.
Pastor David Olson says there are several charities that are dear to them.
He also says the Crisis Food Center has been a valued partner over the years, as has the Salvation Army. Church leaders cite an aging membership, decreasing income, and the cost of maintenance and care for the decision to close.
