While the fire at Calvary Baptist Church knocked a portion of the campus out of commission, it also acted to strengthen the resolve of its members. In early October, a blaze in a connecting structure between the two big buildings on the campus was originally thought to have been caused by an electrical problem, but with the discovery of a secondary ignition source, the fire still appears to be an arson.
An official ruling has not been given, due to health issues being dealt with by the State Fire Marshal's Office. Still, the church is closer than ever, according to Greg Allday, the church's music minister.
The church just wrapped up a three day presentation of a live Nativity scene. Allday says the the Nativity was expanded, but they were not able to have the Christmas musical that had been planned.
