Angel Tree is a ministry of Prison Fellowship that reaches out to the estimated 1.7 million children of inmates and their families in the United States. Today is the start of the Angel Tree campaign at at least one local church. Faith Fellowship on Seminary Road north of the Illinois 255 interchange launches its campaign, and members are encouraged to take a tag to purchase gifts for children who have moms or dads behind bars.
Pastor David Blackburn says the need is growing.
He says Angel Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities. Faith Fellowship is just one of many churches involved in the Angel Tree ministry.
