Children who have wound up in the juvenile justice system are often doomed to an adult life in the adult courts. That does not necessarily have to be the case, according to Madison County States Attorney Tom Gibbons. He is announcing the creation of a Children’s Justice Division within his office. Assistant State's Attorney Amy Gabriel will head the division.
Gibbons (pictured) is hopeful that this enhanced cooperative effort will ensure that our local law enforcement community has the resources needed to support and protect the children of Madison County.
He says this new effort will address cases in which the children are a part of a case involving their parents, such as custody battles or child support, as well as felony cases, misdemeanor, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile abuse & neglect.
