National Child Abuse Prevention Month is held every April, and the kickoff to this year’s awareness campaign is going to be held at the Madison County Administration Building in Edwardsville today. Judge Barbara Crowder, one of the Chairs of the Family Violence Prevention Council, will be joined by a number of others to raise awareness of the problem, and what is being done to combat the problem.
Margarette Trushel, Executive Director of the Oasis Women's Center, says according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, cases of child abuse are staggering in this part of the state.
