A little less than a year ago, the overdose death of a 28-year-old Alton woman apparently put an ordinance outlawing the sale of bath salts in the city on the fast track. That led to a growing awareness of the problem, first on a regional, and then a statewide basis. Last Friday's bust of an alleged synthetic drug dealer in Jerseyville has apparently shown just how big the synthetic drug industry has become.
Alton Police Chief David Hayes says shutting down the Brockman business is good news for those in law enforcement.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office and local police recovered about 110 thousand dollars worth of illegal synthetic drugs in Montgomery and Jersey counties and identified the distributor, William Brockman Wholesale Tobacco and Candy.
