Beginning October 1 and running through the end of the year, participating nonprofit organizations can benefit from an Ameren refrigerator recycling program. When an Ameren Illinois residential customer recycles a spare refrigerator or freezer through the Act On Energy program, that customer can choose from a number of charities listed, and Ameren Illinois will donate $20 to the cause.
That's double the normal amount. Ameren's Victoria Busch says this broadens the reach of the program.
In addition, Ameren will pay you 50-dollars and haul your old refrigerator or freezer away free of charge. Customers are not required to replace the unit, but it does have to be in working condition. Nonprofits can enroll in the program by clicking here: www.actonenergy.com/fundraiser
