Consumers are being urged to turn off and turn in their old, inefficient refrigerator or freezer through an Ameren Illinois Utilities program that is reaching out to nonprofits at the same time. The Ameren Illinois ActOnEnergy Refrigerator Recycling Program is doubling its donation to participating nonprofits when an electric customer recycles their old unit. And by turning in their old units, consumers are eligible for $50 at the time it is taken away.
Ameren spokesperson Victora Busch says charities that would like to join the program should go to the e-mail provided at this story at AltonDailyNews.com and have their W-4 form and nonprofit documentation handy.
To schedule pick up of your old refrigerator or freezer, call 1-866-899-9088. For more information on getting involved as a charity, call 1-866-838-6918, or log onto this story at AltonDailyNews.com and follow the link.
