Police from Wood River, Highland and Chester, Illinois have teamed with the ATF over the past year investigating armed robberies at Cash Stores located in each town. The investigation recently paid off, with charges against a suspect in all three. 32-year-old Chrice Shunta Combs of St. Louis with three counts of "Interference with Commerce by Violence or Threat of Violence," and a single count of "Possession of Firearm in Furtherance of Crime of Violence."
The incident in Wood River happened on August 31 of last year. Combs allegedly entered the store around 12:30pm that day armed with a knife and a handgun, and demanded money. The interference charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine each, while the possession of firearm charge is punishable by 7 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
