A St. Louis man has been charged after allegedly stealing from an Alton department store then leading police on a pursuit that ended in Hartford. 30 year old Marlon L. Tucker is charged with retail theft, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, and offenses related to a motor vehicle.
Alton Police were called to the Kohl’s store on the Homer Adams Parkway just before 5:30pm Wednesday to a report of three shoplifters. As police arrived, the trio was leaving the store and fled in a car that police learned had been stolen from Ferguson, Missouri. The suspects led police south on Route 3 through East Alton but ended at Delmar Avenue in Hartford after their vehicle hit spike strips deployed by Hartford Police on Route 3 at Hawthorne. Along with Tucker, a female in the car is facing misdemeanor charges in connection with the case while a third person was released without being charged.
