The summer concert series at the Alton Riverfront Amphitheater is set to begin on Friday and the acts won't be the only difference fans see this season. In addition to moving shows from Thursday to Friday evenings, patrons will have to pay a $5 entrance fee this year.
Jon Courtney, the co-owner of Triple Jam Productions says that sustainability was the main motivation for charging a small entrance fee.
Courtney also says the move to Friday nights will allow them to escape the heat of the day and also give them the ability to have the shows run later. Concerts should run from just after 7:15 p.m. to around 10:30 p.m. each week.
Friday's show will feature the Briefcase Blues and Silver Bullet in a tribute to the Blues Brothers and Bob Seger. Gates open at 6 p.m.
