Whether or not voters of Madison County will get a say on the jail bond issue after all will be decided no earlier than next week. The group "Bonds on Ballots" group collected nearly 24,000 signatures over a 30-day period to place the question on the March ballot, but an objection was filed by political activist Steve Jellen.
A hearing on the objection was continued after a member of the electoral board recused himself, according to Madison County Clerk Debra Ming-Mendoza.
She reminds these hearings are open to the public. Last month, the Madison County Board voted 20-7 to approve the issuance of $18.8-million in general obligation bonds to fund the project.
