Four vehicles were involved in a traffic accident on Route 3 in Godfrey Tuesday morning. At least one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and authorities believe the sun may have played a role in the crash. The accident took place on Route 3, just south of the Piasa Creek bridge.
34 year old Paul Braundmeier of Fieldon was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated and released. He says he was slowing for a vehicle that was stopping in front of him on Route 3 south when he was hit from behind, sending his car into the vehicle in front of him, with that vehicle striking the vehicle in front of it. The chain reaction crash may have been caused by a driver who reportedly did not see the slowing traffic due to the sun. Police have not released any official report on the crash, or information on any possible charges.
