DUI arrests do not often result in a charge of forgery, but in the case of one Madison County resident who was taken into custody on Tuesday it has happened. 18-year-old Michael Selhime of Wood River was arrested by an Illinois State Police trooper for the driving infraction and taken to the Madison County jail. When deputies searched the man, they found two $50 bills that were not legal tender.
Selhime, of the 200 block of Linton Street in Wood River, has been charged with DUI, and with forgery for knowingly possessing counterfeit U.S. Currency with the intent to utilize the documents to defraud another. His bond was set at $25,000.
