A St. Louis man is facing charges in connection with a police pursuit that began in Alton last Friday night. 23 year old Deven Strauther was taken into custody after bailing out of an alleged stolen vehicle and reportedly dropping a handgun that had been in his possession.
Authorities say Strauther is charged with unlawful use of a firearm and resisting arrest and is being held in St. Louis County Jail on a $35,000 bond. He could also face charges in connection with a carjacking in Alton last Friday night not far from the Alton Police Station. The victim says his car was bumped from behind on the Belchick Expressway at East Broadway, and as he exited his car, the suspect pulled a gun on the victim, and took the victim’s vehicle. The stolen car headed across The Clark Bridge and Alton Police notified police in Missouri, and also used OnStar to locate the car and eventually disable it, allowing police to arrest Strauther. Strauther is also wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting at a Chucky Cheese Pizza location in St. Charles County last month.
