The Interim Superintendent of the Alton School District is happy to be back in the district and is looking forward to more good things to come. Mark Cappel retired in 2015 as the Human Resources Director of the Alton School District, but returned to fill a temporary role he hopes can continue long-term.
Cappel has made no secret of his desire to sign a longer term deal and drop the "interim" tag from his title, but he says that's up to the Alton School Board. In the meantime, he tells the Big Z all eyes are on the state and a backlog of bills it owes many districts. The Alton School District is owed around $1.5-million right now and there's no word on when it will come in:

The Alton School Board could decide within the next few months on either hiring Cappel full-time, or conducting a search for additional candidates.
