Jason Plummer of Edwardsville was in Alton on Monday with Senator Mark Kirk, visiting with workers at Cope Plastics. Plummer is part of a crowded GOP ticket vying for the 12th Congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Jerry Costello that includes Belleville's ex-mayor Roger Cook, former Costello challenger Teri Newman of Highland, and newcomer Theresa Kormos of O'Fallon.
Plummer, who ran for Illinois Lieutenant Governor in 2010, feels his experience would benefit the people of the 12th Congressional District. He says in visiting with the workers at Cope, he heard some very familiar concerns.
He says this will truly be a pivotal election, noting what he defines as over-reach in the healthcare bill and in terms of government spending.
