Rodger Cook, a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 12th District, is standing by an endorsement an opponent allegedly says was bought. Cook received the backing of pro-life Family-PAC and its Executive Director Paul Captio. At a debate last weekend, Jason Plummer allegedly accused Cook of paying $5,000 for the endorsement, a claim Cook denies.
Cook is a former mayor of Belleville. He is in a crowded field that includes Jason Plummer, who has picked up numerous endorsements, including that of U.S. Congressman John Shimkus and U.S. Senator Mark Kirk. Also running on the GOP ticket is Theresa Kormos of O'Fallon, a newcomer to the political scene.
