The chorus of state lawmakers wanting something to happen that probably should have been happening all along during the state budget impasse continues to grow.
State Representative Tim Butler says it’s all well and good that the top lawmakers and Governor Bruce Rauner have met three times – once without House Speaker Michael Madigan – but they can do better than that.

“I would urge them, especially after the first of the year, to meet every day until we get something done,” says Butler (R-Springfield).  “We’re getting to a point now where we’re six months into not having a budget.  We’re to a point almost where, I think, we’re going to have to pass a FY ’16-FY ’17 budget.”
Butler says he did receive a memo from House Republican Leader Jim Durkin last week indicating that the talks that did happen were productive.  But, he says he’s “frustrated,” so a solution needs to be “hammered out” now.
