One of the more unique buildings in the Riverbend may not be turned into rubble after all. The Citizen's Bank Building on Berkshire Boulevard in East Alton is the round building on the corner as you go up the hill into Rosewood Heights, and the village's plan to turn is into green space is now apparently on hold.
The previous owner purchased the building several years ago, but was unable to do anything commercial with it, so they recently donated it to the village. East Alton Mayor Joe Silkwood tells The Big Z many people will remember the building for its unique architecture.

Silkwood says the short-term plan had been to turn the property into green space, but with new interest apparently being stirred since word of the plan for demolition got out, the village has reportedly decided to wait and see what happens.
