There is apparently nothing left to cut from the budget in Alton. The city’s department heads gathered for the yearly budget meetings this week, but no cuts were made to any line items. It is a reality that has city officials, including the mayor, dreading the possibility of legislation that could come from the state.

The budget for the coming fiscal year calls for a significant deficit according to Walker. He says the budget must be done by the end of June, but adjustments can be made until the end of September.
