Hundreds of thousands of pounds of Asian Carp are being removed from local waterways and sent to China in the name of commerce. The former fish processing plant in Grafton that closed in 2014 after odor issues couldn't be resolved has been re-tooled into a different kind of fish plant, where the carp are flash-frozen and shipped half-way around the world.
Grafton Mayor Tom Thompson tells The Big Z the Chinese then process the fish over there.

He says recent shipments of 98,000 to 100,000 pounds point to the popularity of the fish that was once considered to have no useful purpose.
