The face of the Brighton business community continues to change, with businesses along North Main Street giving way to the High Speed Rail construction, and increased truck traffic through town. The additional trucks are a result of Illinois 255 opening, and the village’s Mayor would like to capitalize on the increased traffic.
Mayor Wayne Schafer tells The Big Z offering amenities for truckers would be of benefit to the trucking industry and the village alike.

Schafer says he foresees the development of an operation that would include an attached chain restaurant. Recent improvements to Delhi road and new infrastructure on the west side of Route 267 / 111 in Jersey County also shows the town is ready to embrace the change that is already in the making, according to Schafer.
