After an autopsy on Friday at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, the body that was found in the Mississippi River has been identified. The body has been determined to be that of missing person 41-year-old Heather L. Bardsley. Bardsley had been missing since around 10pm on December 26th, 2015. The evidence is consistent with the theory that Bardsley was swept into the river during the flash flooding that took place in December of last year, although the investigation is still open and ongoing. A local fisherman reported finding Bardsley's body to the Grafton Police just after noon on Thursday. Although the conclusion is a positive identification, it still must be confirmed by a dental review.
