The identity of a body found in the Mississippi River at St. Louis has been determined as 33-year-old Jason Hayes. A barge operator discovered the remains early Monday morning near the Lumiere Casino and the captain called the Coast Guard at about 3am Monday.
Hayes is the West Alton man who was missing since Saturday evening. He was believed to be on the Missouri River in his boat, possibly checking on equipment when the vessel collided with something. The damaged boat was found about three miles downstream from where he put in to the river from a ramp off Saale Road.
