The Illinois Secretary of the State’s office is reminding you about biking safely as more riders come out during the summer months.Secretary of State Jesse White handed out free bike helmets to kids in Chicago, emphasizing that the most common injury and cause of death for bicyclists are head injuries.
“Bicycle helmets have proven to reduce the risk of head and brain injury by at least 85 percent,” White said, “so it’s important for you to make sure that you get a helmet that will fit on your head properly, and you wear it every time you get on the bicycle.”
