The 11th annual Cycle Across Illinois will begin tomorrow in Alton and conclude Sunday in Chicago. The ride is a benefit for the Illinois Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, or COPS, which is a support group for those who have lost a law enforcement officer who died while serving in the line of duty.
While there were no local officers killed over the past year, the group will honor Officer James Morrisy from Oak Forest, Illinois. Granite City Police Lt. Jenna DeYong will make her third trip and tells the Big Z the COPS group is like a family:

There are more than 50 riders expected for this trip which will start with dipping the rear tire of their bikes in the Mississippi River at 6am tomorrow (Thursday) and ending at Lake Michigan on Sunday. For more information, go to www.ilcops.org
