Alton Main Street is putting the finishing touches on plans for Friday's Big Gig Music Show at the Riverfront Amphitheater. The event runs from 6pm until 11pm and will feature six local bands from around the River Bend and St. Louis region along with the headlining group, Aaron Kamm and the One Drops.
Alton Main Street Executive Director Sara McGibany says that ticket sales for one group may have set an all-time Big Gig record.
The other groups that will perform on the main stage are the surf, punk, rock group Drama and the rock band Sweet Dirt.
Three other bands will also have an opportunity to perform on the second stage by the beer tent starting at 6pm with a performance from the reggae/rock group Nine Rabbits Laughing. Also playing on the second stage are the alternative band Shower Curtain Madness; and the bluegrass and folk band Hideous Gentlemen. Tickets for Friday night's show can be purchased for $10 in advance through the Riverfront Amphitheater website or bought at the gate for $12.
