Illinois Democrats may like Vice President Joe Biden, and may even like the idea of him jumping into the presidential race. Endorsing him is another matter.
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says he’s “a huge fan” of Biden, the two having served together in the Senate for a decade from when Durbin came into the office until Biden was elected vice president. But Durbin is sticking with supporting former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“At this point, I’m making any further endorsements, or changing any endorsements, but I’m not going to say one negative word about my friend Joe Biden,” Durbin said.
U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Chicago) is in the same boat.
“I’m supporting Hillary Clinton,” Davis said. “I’ve been supporting Hillary now for two or three months.”
Davis feels Democrats pushing for Biden to enter the race may look at him as some sort of insurance policy in case Clinton’s candidacy is derailed.
