The completion dates for two road projects in the village of Bethalto have been pushed back according to Bethalto's Public Works Joe Ricci. Ricci informed the village board last night that phase two of the Roosevelt repavement project has hit a snag because of a discovery that dates back to the early days of Bethalto.
Ricci also says that this problem could be resolved by Wednesday which would only push the completion date of the project back by a week. If the state rules that the ballast must be removed and replaced with rock it would cost the village an additional $20,000 to complete the work.
The other project that has been delayed is the replacement of a culvert along Mill and Grant Streets. The work will be completed about a month behind schedule after construction crews were forced to move equipment away from the site while utility crews moved phone lines. Those lines have been moved and Ricci is hopeful that work could resume on this project by the end of the week.
