Business owners have been meeting with Bethalto Mayor Alan Winslow to discuss ways to improve the business climate within the Village. Improving the look and feel of Route 140, creating an attraction that will draw people to Bethalto and improving signage within the village are just a few of the ideas that have been proposed. The first one to gain traction, however, is the creation of a farmer's market.
The Bethalto Spirit will host the Village's first farmer's market on October 5th. The event will feature local businesses, vendors and other crafters selling various items that tie into the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays. Mayor Winslow (pictured) says that this could eventually become an annual series of markets if this "trial run" goes well.
The event will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. near where Prairie meets the Irwin Plegge Expressway.
